Literary Vacations

I just returned from a vacation through Ireland (Dublin), Scotland (Edinburgh), and England (Lake District, York, Cambridge, London). Since it was a student educational tour, we saw many literary sites: Dublin Writers Museum, Edinburgh Writers Museum, monuments or references to Burns, Swift, Wilde, Stoker, Wordsworth, Joyce, Barrie, Shakespeare, Dickens, the Brontes, and Austen. What a lovely journey.

Here's a line or two from Wordsworth's famous 'Daffodils':

"I gazed and gazed, but little thought/What wealth the show to me had brought.../And then my heart with pleasure fills/And dances with the daffodils."

All this makes me want to know what literary vacations some of you have taken - what you saw, how it inspired you, what you recommend, etc. etc. The more details, the better!
