March has been the wordiest month

Some words I've encountered in the past few weeks. None of them are in my dictionaries.

Emo: a teen subculture that plays at mental illness. Apparently the word's been around awhile and has different meanings, but that's the sense I've seen used.

Pillar box: how a low aspect ratio film appears on a high aspect ratio TV screen. Blank spaces appear at the sides instead of top and bottom as in letterbox.

Diegetic: film jargon for the the soundtrack that the characters can hear; so nondiegetic for the sounds that they can't such as the background music. It has a considerably wider meaning, but that's how I've seen it used.

Balut: the most revolting food I've come across. I knew about it, but I didn't know the name for it. It beats the tarantula-egg omelet I saw Amazonians eating in a nature doc.

I ordered a copy of Webster's Second International. It wasn't easy finding one at a reasonable price.
