The hybrid Anthuriums with the showy flowers (A. andraeanum types)are really variable in cold tolerance. Some will melt below 45F others have made it into the low 30's. Interestingly enough, one hybrid that seems more cold tolerant is 'Arizona'. There is a line of hybrids from the Netherlands named after US states and he have grown several of these. 'Nevada' also has grown well. We also got an Anthurium called 'Lazarz' from a south FL grower, its a large bird nest type. This will be it's 2nd winter outdoors. Another Anthurim we have grown for years outside is A. watermaliense, the Black Anthurium. It has been down to 27F with just some leaf burn though it is in a shady, wind-protected location so it probably a few degrees warmer. We have quite a few Anthuriums out for trial. We had some donated that were wild collected from Ecuador and Venezuela but unidendtified. These froze down after the 27F freeze but most grew back from the roots. Eric Orlando,FL z9b/10

I am no philo pro but it looks like one I saw on Ebay called Philodendron giganteum.

Fighting8r, that series is just amazing!!!The detail and quality of those pictures, and the way it shows the incredible evolution of chrysalis into beautiful butterfly is just too cool! I just love it. Felix, your forest is so serene and looks cool and comfortable. I would hang out there too. Very pretty and peaceful. Hi Nova! Another great butterfly photo! Tina, I'd never seen that allamanda. Really pretty color and just in time for fall. Well, I don't have a picture today... tomorrow I will try to find the time between mowing, etc. I have to try to get to Selby and get some nice ones there. Anna

It's actually Philodendron bipinnatifidum, P. selloum isn't a correct name, although you'll still see references to it under that name. One of its common names is Tree Philodendron. Another which can resemble it a bit but is much smaller is Philodendron Xanadu. If you have one of those and are waiting for it to get big then even when hell froze over it would still stay small.
