I would really like to get a hold of some Indian Bay leaf seeds or seedlings (Cinnamomum tamala) and some seeds or seedlings of the Indonesian Bay Tree (Syzygium polyanthum). They seem virtually impossible to find in the USA. A Source of plants or seeds would also be welcomed. Thanks!!

echquiltstorm, I recently purchased Bay Laurel seeds from a Canadian seed company (IÂm in Canada). They arrived 3 weeks ago. I paid $7 CDN ($6 USD?) and received 12 seeds packed in a sealed air tight envelope. The seeds were shipped in a moist pre-germinated state packed with vermiculite. So far, I have one of 12 sprouting. My seeds came with a fairly comprehensive information sheet regarding history and germination instructions and care instructions. morz8's post pretty much reflected what the sheet said regarding germination times etc. If you send me an email at ottawapepper(at)hotmail(dot)com, IÂll forward a scanned copy of the sheet. Kelli, No questions are dumb. We all have to learn and try things. We can all learn from each other. "Maestro" If you have Adeniums already to take scions from to graft. I would try and find some cheap adeniums at one of the Big Box stores or such and use those as Root Stock. If you are just starting out and want to experiment. You can leave the cut stalk of the Root Stock a little longer (Flat Grafts my preference) and if the first attempt does not take. Then you can slice off a bit more and try another one. Growing you own rootstock would work as well, just may have to wait for a couple years for it to get large enough to use. Unless you live in a climate where they grow very fast. Rick

Quite weird. I've had some funny things on the web, but not like that. I'm a total Mac user and have been since they started in 84. I'll start planting as soon as I get a space for it worked out. I'm setting up a seedling area with terrarium heaters to keep it a bit warmer than our room temperature. Checking it out it seems to give about +5-7C advantage which should help as we keep our rooms rather cool in winter and near a window for the light, it can get as low as about 8-10C on cold nights.
