Lots of seeds to harvest on that forget-me-not, which as ken says is done for the season. Cut it back - it'll shortly turn into a really dark, crispy, dead looking thing - but scatter the cuttings wherever you might want them to sprout. Very welcome plant in my gardens - I have them everywhere and they're just picking up real steam here now. Easy to pull up if they land somewhere inconvenient.

mine are biennial. ... moving them would be a waste of time ... you gather up spent flowers.. and seed them into the area where you want them.. and let them do the work ... regarding mine.. the ones that flowered this year.. will be dead next year .... those that came up from this seasons seed .. will flower next year and die ... the definition of biennial ... maybe its a zonal thing???? make sure before you do a lot of work.. or make sure you are taking the babes.. not the mature ones .... ken

Thanks. I have them all over the garden and really love them for their airy blueness in the Spring. However, after they bloom they do get a little ratty looking and I think that's when I tend to pull more than I should instead of cutting the seed heads off before they become ripe. A "river of forget-me-nots", I'm thinking of this right now. On one edge of the inside of the privet arch I see three small plants blooming, obviously planted by seed somehow. Do I leave them to mature and spread more seed or do I pull them so I don't have them escape beyond to other areas of the orchard. Not that it wouldn't be pretty, it's just that I'm not sure I want Forget-Me-Nots growing down there.

Have you thought about buying seed and sowing them this summer/fall for spring blooms? We bought our house and the forget me nots (all blue) were gorgeous. they have "moved" as they have reseeded, but I tried to move some to another property and none come up there. So I'm guessing mine are definitely annuals that reseed themselves. Swallowtail garden has several types of forget me not seeds. As a matter of fact, I love my blue forget me so much (all in my front yard), I am going to buy the pink ones for the backyard and sow in the fall. I did find some blue forget me not seeds locally, as well.
