preventing bulbs rotting, compost etc

BULBS

I've been on the bulb and container forums but I'm on this forum now as I'd just like direct thought from fellow uk-gardeners that experience a similar climate....

I've put all my daffs and crocuses in pots outside (tulips in 2-3 weeks time). I was wondering your thoughts & experience how to ensure all of these survive the English rain/autumn/winter. Will they be ok or are they in danger of rotting? What are your tips to prevent this? Is where I position the pots relevant this autumn/winter? etc. All tips welcome to prevent the bulbs rotting!

By the way, I must admit I used a multipurpose compost. Can you recommend a brand for my tulips (going into pots remember).

COMPOST

This query is for those of us who purchase and use compost in spring and summer on our general plants. What 'brand' do you buy or recommend? (I also make my own and therefore use the compost forum)
