Plant identification

Can anyone please help me to identify this plant? I found it growing in sand behind the shed. At the moment it is 5 to 6 feet tall, has 3 main stems and the flower heads arch at the top of the stem. I think it looks very 'fuchsia-ish', but unsure if it is a plant or a weed.

You probably have the answer by now, but anyway, it's Leycesteria formosa,

Yes it is a Leycesteria as Malorena says, I find the need to be tough when it comes to pruning them they will self seed too, but I like their strange flowers.

The underside of the leaf has an unmistakeable mealy or grainy look. Yes, they're edible (I believe both raw in salads and as a cooked vegetable).

I bought this many years ago & it’s gotten really leggy I’d like to replant it but need to know what it is. Is it a croton of some sort? It’s been indoors in a west window & gets fertilized & misted regularly. I moved it outdoors today to replant it Any help will be appreciated.
