Not a fan of that style anyway and it did seem like you could pack more into the space. I assumed it would fill in as the season progressed? Loved the spring blooming space though which bordered the maze.

Thanks for all the help! Glenburn, that was awfully nice of you to contact them!!! I had also looked at TripAdvisor for comments around the dates that we expect to be there. Seems a little iffy, especially for a reasonably good display. My daughter just reported that she phoned the Gardens and they said that there could be a cold snap that would affect them, but if not, there would be some rose out. From the DA website I found a list of nice rose gardens in the UK. One is in Regent's Park in London, so I figure that a look at that garden would give us a pretty good idea as to what shape the roses in Albrighton will in. Its only a 3 hr train ride, so that's not too bad. The visit with my daughter is as important as a visit to the rose garden. Thanks again.

Hi, thought I would chip in with a couple of suggestions. Mickfield Hostas is well worth a visit as they hold the National Collection of Hostas grown in containers. Bowden Hostas in Devon had a display garden. In the Lake District at Windermere is Holehird Garden which is maintained by the Lakeland Horticultural Society. When I visited a few years ago they had a massive display bed filled to the brim with huge hostas that must have been there for years. Sorry I cant think of anywhere else in particular. Lots of gardens have a few hostas in their display beds but they are often just the very common ones and then they let the slugs run wild on them leaving them looking very unattractive and reinforcing the widely held belief that " they are not worth growing cos the slugs will eat them "!

no doubt!! me too!! i know,! want to live in the middle of nowhere!! then i'd be happy!! LOL could you imagine? that'd be cool!! LOL those onions are crazy wicked!! but i love them!! i wonder how they did that! i've heard of them growing them, and keeping the seeds or the bulbs from the biggest ones. and then keep doing that, only using the one's from the biggest. ~Medo
