Does anyone know what size of pot (if at all) I could get away with growing this in? I fancy one but I'm a little short of space thanks to all the roses and clematis.

I'm afraid that's all I know about it I saw it on ebay (in the link above) thought it looked pretty nice but I'm short on space as all my large pots are stuffed full of clematis and roses.

I leave some on a second year vine if it's big enough. So vine size is the key in my opinion. As with all young fruit vines/trees, I thin extra heavily. So how big is your vine? What is the caliper of the trunk? How big and long are the canes and how many did you leave? How many sq ft would you expect the vine to cover this year? Is it in full sun? These are the factors I'd consider.

Remy: Thompson seedless are naturally small berries. What you are seeing is somewhere near the normal berry size of that cultivar. Commercial growers achieve larger berries by spraying gibberellic acid to first thin the fruit off each cluster and then to plump up the remaining berries. They also use other tricks like girdling the trunk. You could do this. It's not that hard. But it doesn't increase the flavor or sweetness and may do the opposite. Doing a better job of pruning, thinning, and other cultural tasks can increase berry size somewhat if they are limiting factors. Commercially berry size increase is used only for Thompsons destined for table grape use or other special applications like Jumbo raisins. The normal raisins are grown with small berries just like yours. So the vast majority of Thompsons are grown like yours with small berries.

This is a fun little experiment so definitely keep us posted. I think we're all learning something here. :) Rooting under glass in this case, to me, means cutting a short section of stem, sticking it either in to a pot of good potting soil, or sticking it in to the ground, and then watering well and either covering the cutting/stem with a bell jar, glass, or plastic bag etc to make a mini-greenhouse. If you have 14 feet to work with, yes "mixing it up" would mean hacking it in to smaller pieces and trying different strategies. If it was mine, I'd cut it in to 12 inch sections (keeping track of which end was pointed to the original roots and which was pointed to the branch tip) and I'd try different strategies: rooting in water indoors, rooting in water outdoors, rooting in potting soil indoors, rooting in potting soil outdoors (covered), sticking some in soil outdoors (maybe some with, or some without, the little greenhouses), and so on, just to improve your chances for success. I bet you'll get some success from one of these methods. I wouldn't add manure etc to the soil where you're rooting them--sometings that can encourage rot or burn etc. I'm sure they'll love it once they're rooted and you're ready to plant them to their new permanent home. Keep the updates coming as I'd love to know what method succeeds for you since I've always rooted only dormant stems (and quite lazily at that with a gentle shove of the stem in to the ground or potting soil in winter). Is My Grape Vine Infected by Black Rot Disease (grape experts needed)

I grow a few varieties of grapes but not sure I would call myself an expert. From your pictures, it looks like you have one or more fungal infections on your grapes. The treatment is essentially the same if it is black rot, downy mildew, phomopsis cane, etc. At the end of the season, you'll need to prune off the infected canes, clean up around the vines, and make sure that there are no infected grapes laying around. Start the vine on a spray program next year and it should clear up. My vines looked worse last year but this year I followed the spray program and they are nearly perfect. The season isn't over but I may have more grapes than I know what to do with. Although our regions are a bit different, here is the guide I used to manage the spray routine. Midwest IPM Guide

Hello again,
I followed your link and now know what we are looking at.
You will need a 15 inch pot and a 5 foot long broom handle (preservative treated). Use a good potting compost that you have enriched with something like Bonemeal (handle wearing gloves).With broom handle inserted to bottom of pot fill with compost whilst planting vine making sure stem of vine is close to broom handle in middle of pot.
Allow strongest shoot to grow 3 or 4 inches above top of broom handle and pinch out growing point, allow the top 5 sideshoots to grow but remove all other basal shoots.In late autumn or early winter shorten back these top five growths to 2 inches from main stem. The following spring allow 5 uppermost shoots to grow and cascade to within 3 inches of ground level, again removing all lower growth. Continue this pruning system each and every year to produce a stunning standard weeping grape.Feed vine from time to time with different types of tomato feed. Worth trying this system with a good fruiting vine.
On E.Bay people do use very odd names.
