I read your link the first time but the plant pictured isn't the same plant as growhappy posted a link to. I'm not an expert in botanical nomenclature but I do know that we are talking about two different plants. I certainly don't argue that some may call P.hederaceum, P. scandens by mistake but I don't believe that all P. scandens are really P. hederaceum. There is no fuzz on P. scandens oxycardium and no burgundy color either. Botanical names certainly do change over the years but I don't see how these two similar but different plants are the same. P. scandens oxycardium used to be called P. cordatum years ago and I've always known P. hederaceum as P. micans.

Yes that's what happened to me. However after having grown the true melanochrysum it was obvious that it wasn't the real thing. The problem with buying immature philodendrons is that the leaves are very different from their mature form which gives unprincipled traders the opportunity to sell misnamed species that the uninitiated will not be aware of until too late. I know they are readily available in the States but the cost/legal requirements make it an unrealistic route. I will keep looking. Tell
