Mine is a green variety as well, I am not sure of the variety though, but I am going to look for the paperwork that came with them. I finally found Rhubarb for sale locally, and I may plant a red type next to it. This wont cause any problems , will it?? I love this stuff, it made fantastic wine last season , and while twisting off the flowers yesterday, I broke some of the stalks...we had pound cake with whipped cream and stewed rhubarb for dessert...Mmmmmm You gotta love a fruit/veg that is so easy to grow !! :)

Thanks! clarejoe and Gmom2-6boys, I've posted the earwig trap a few times in a few different threads. Original recipe was posted on the Plant Clinic forum and mm brought it to my attention. Here it is again. To any small container: tuna, yogurt, ect. add 1 Tbsp. each of cooking oil, soy sauce and molasses or Karo Syrup. I'm using Karo since I have no molasses and it is a god send let me tell you LOL! Mix it up well and set out were needed. In some places I have it beneath plants or set in the mulch nearby their favorite plants/seedlings. Good luck, Vera

The land on which I spent time as a child, and now have inherited, used to be a rhubarb farm. My parents became first time land owners 65 years ago and my father built the house. We have always had rhubarb plants growing. Two plants grow far more stalks than anyone can handle so I set up a table at the bottom of my driveway and set them out for free. People walking/jogging by, grab one for the sour bite. Other take a few stalks. Occasionally, I get a slice of pie left at my door. Never thought of a male and female plant. I traded plants with a distant neighbor. One plant grows taller than the other. One is more red than the other. I have never known any difference in flavor. Since they they divide easily I wonder why anyone would need to be interested in gender?

It is a green rhubarb that is flowering. Rhubarb comes in different colors including green.
