Moondance

Has anyone tried moondance? I'm looking for a nice white landscaping rose and Jackson and Perkins claims that Moondance is better than iceberg.

I'm in southern California and have cl. Iceberg and floribunda Moondance in my backyard. The Moondance plants have repeat-bloomed all summer (their very first summer), and are as prolific as my three-year-old Icebergs. The Moondance blooms are creamier (almost a pale yellow at center) and larger than the cl. Iceberg blooms, and have a much stronger scent. I will plant more. (I wish there were a climber available.)

i understand that in north america moondance is often Trier in fact...an other fantastic rose anyway

I have both, both are beautiful. Pope John Paul II has larger blooms and is extremely fragrant. Probably will win the James Alexander Gamble Award when it is eligible. Moondance, descended from Iceberg, has smaller blooms, but more blooms than PJP II, but is less fragrant than PJP II (but more fragrant than Iceberg). I've heard advice to plant rose bushes in threes, which would make the visual statement perhaps more powerful with PJP II.

That's Moondance. It's a floribunda that opens fairly quickly to a fully open form. There's a lovely inbetween stage that you might have missed if your weather is too warm (it opens faster then).

Hmmm, I've looked through every rose at HMF that has "summer" or "kiss" in the name and did not find any Tea roses. There are several Hybrid Teas, which is a separate class, and Summer's Kiss is one of them. It is an amber HT by Meilland and goes by several names. Moondance and Spirit of Peace are two of them but the exhibition name is Paul Ricard. Many roses go by several names depending on where they're sold. Are you sure about that name? Do you have any other information about it?

Well I had Iceberg for years in my mother's garden and it was a perfect rose. Almost thornless,no black spot and a prolific flowerer. That'll do me!
