One last photo--this guy has been around for ages, and is very similar in colouring and shape to the little one who stays close to the pond. But I have to admit, it tends to do little hops....
Odd thing about taking pictures in the dark...it is a surprise to see what you get!
Nice photos. You are lucky to have toads, I have never seen them in my pond. Your toads look very healthy, interesting that the second photo shows that Toady (for fear of being accused of being sexist) doesn't have webbed feet, I didn't know that.
Any body else noticed how fast the water levels are going down? I am in Kent and they keep forcasting rain but it never arrives. Been saving water to clean my concicence...if it is yellow let it mellow, if it is brown flush it down!
They are already talking of hosepipe bans. Unbelieveable. How many times do they do this instead of collecting and keeping the water. My pond has gone down a little, but not too much at present. I just top up with the hosepipe. It has been very hot here today. Alison
The water levels do seem to be going down fast, and I have to admit I have been topping it up to keep the tadpoles happy in the shallows (many have turned to froglets and disappear into the undergrowth). Mind you, with the highest water bills in the country I don't feel too bad. The car won't be getting washed for awhile though!
I always put a 100 or so gallons in with each filter clean/top up. They were talking of hosepipe bans at christmas here, haven't enforced one as far as I'm aware but we are the dry bit of the country.
