Kristina, a little early, yet, to tell if you've got Calamondin seedlings or Kumquat seedlings. Unfortunately, their leaf structure can be rather similar, so you may even have to wait until they fruit. And that could be a few years down the road, as citrus seedlings can take as many as 5 to 20 years to fruit. Not sure where either cultivar falls on that spectrum, but you have at least 5 years to wait for fruit in any event. Nice seedlings, btw, very healthy and green. Well done. Patty S.

did you grow yrs in pots? what pot size were they in when fruiting started? mine are in 10" still to keep small sized (were 2, I chucked the 2nd last fall though), and I do fertilize with miracle grow and vigoro intermittently. they are on wicks, so continuous liquid feed and they are neither dry nor waterlogged ever. so grow nicely when outside. well, I guess mine will NEVER fruit, 'cause I am in the apt and I have to reduce its size to continue to grow it sort of dwarfed.. it looks good on the balcony as is, gives some shade to caladiums under it. now that I know how to grow it i'll just try to buy a calamondin already fruiting as a small indoor plant: they often have them in Chinatown here. I killed my first one . correction ;)..scale ate it while I was on winter vacation..:(( but the seed was from it's fruit.

Laura, do you have a way with just digging a hole in a very sunny warm area and partially or completely burying the Nagami pot? It will keep the root zone warm while it gets all the sun it wants, even more than you could provide with lights... Do you have a very sunny area right up against the window inside? If you keep it at cold temps with less than ideal sunlight, they will still ripen, trust me..I have many fruit that still do and they are sweet...The tree focuses on ripening fruit or even maturing fruit while the leaves themselves slow down drastically...By nature, that is exactly what happens to in ground grown ones..The temps cool of drastically in many areas of the world while the ground stays warmer...This process ripens, sweetens and matures fruit in areas where citrus naturally grow... Just a few options for you) Funny, I partially buried one I could care less about and it seems to be quite happy outside even with temps down into the 20's!!! As for the Calamondin...That will do ok even if you brought it inside...With all the sunlight or lite you give it, even with less than ideal sunlight, this fruit should mature... I would introduce any of them to inside heat and light slowly though..The both of them..From cold open air and sunlight, to dry heat and less light, any plant with react sharply...You could loose the fruit and a few leaves..It varies for everyone..Just a chance we all take once they have been acclimated to very cold temps, natural light, and fresh air for so long.. It always surprises me that people haven't had it before. The most common brand I see is Tajin but there are many brands sold in Hispanic grocers as well as Trader Joes even has a knock off of it now. Its really tasty sprinkled on fresh fruit and I won't enjoy jicama without it or being pickled, cucumbers are also fantastic with it. Its common to see at fair's with vendors selling cups of fruit and having different brands of seasoning to sprinkle on top. I haven't had it on a caramel apple but I bet it would be delicious. I always stalk the ethnic aisle at the store but they rarely have it, so I have to make my way to a Hispanic mart and pick some up, along with an assortment of chilies and Oaxaca cheese. I love salt so it doesn't bother me, the strongest flavor is the chili. It looks like they even sell a low sodium variety too. and while googling the website it looks like its sold at target, so that's convenient.
