Stone the crows (I wish)

Flamin' Norah, I've already lost all my conical-shaped pond snails to the goldfish and now I've got a dirty great big crow that's suddenly appeared and is systematically wiping out my lovely ramshorn snails. I've seen it a number of times now and it breaks up the shell to get to the poor, defenceless occupant. When I rush outside, it flies off with the snail in its beak.

Has anyone else experienced this? I really don't want to have to net the pond again just to deter this feathered monster, because it's such a delight watching all the other birds having a bath/drinking in there.

Ramshorns are brilliant at removing algae from the pondliner and also on the plants themselves.
