Ponds in the UK

Hi I am new to this forum which I found today whilst trying to find out some info about orfe, golden and blue. Can anyone help? Our orfe went mad in a mating frenzy this morning and have layed masses and masses of eggs. All good news you might think!! Good news ,yes, but we are moving house and pond in early June!!!!!! Do we stand a chance of raising some fry to take with us? What to be need to do?

Worried and anxious new mum.

How long will the journey be for the fish and the fry? Obviously the shorter the journey the better, enough air in the bags and taking care not to overheat.
Will the new pond be ready or will you have to have a temptorary holding pond?
I'm not an expert on fish, but I'm sure someone else will be able to help.
Will you riase the fry til June in the same pond, in a fry net or in a separate pond or tub?

WE are relocating back to the north of England from West Sussex. There will be a pond there ready so that will be OK. We are hoping to move middle of June Will we have fry by that time do you know?

Terry, Hello, Hello!! It is so good to get an update and hear y'all are doing well. I'm needing a pic fix of your adorable grandbaby! Huge kudos RE:school. It is so exiting and surely takes a ton of effort. It was 'easy' enough young with not much else to do, but I've been trying to grab an opportunity with real adult life issues for years and years now, too. I just got really started on it and am 'lucky' enough to have the time [disabled back] and it is SO HARD with adult responsibiities. And I don't even have kids! It sounds like you enjoy it too, which is all the better! Keep up the good work, remember a B is fine too, lol... but dazzle them with those skills! We'll want graduation pics so don't you dare forget :)

swimmingfree, Patty S. I too am dyslexic, not in spelling reversals but in putting definition to what I see and how to properly word things so they are understandable and not rude. One missed place or omitted word can change the entire meaning of a sentence. While I would not wish this on anyone else, I still glad i'm not alone. I have also found this citrus forum far more useful in therapy than in solving citrus problems, I can assure you that my trees would be DEAD without this forum and I thank every one else for their help. Make good use of the computer. Pay close attention to how you spelled the word then see the correction. Because this is a citrus forum, I will need to post a picture of my seed grown meiwa kumquat tree to remain in compliance.. MEIWA KUMQUAT TREE GROWN FROM SEED Steve

GGG -- How awful! And, it's worse on older folks. My mom got it too (she's 81), but luckily, she only had it briefly. It hit me quickly too. One minute I felt just fine...five minutes later, I was in REAL trouble. Blech. We are all much better now, though, thanks! What kind of tomatoes do you have? I want to start my new veggie garden this year...I'd like to do a four-square, raised boxes thing, if I can get hubby to make with the lumber and construction...and I always love tomatoes, but bored with the selections at the garden centers. I like grape varieties, and I'll do a Better Boy or two because...heck...they taste good. But, I'd love to try heirlooms.

That's a long journey to keep the same temperature!

"Spawns in schools over weed beds or gravel in shallow areas. Produces thousands of pale yellow eggs c. 2 mm in diameter. Hatching occurs in one to two weeks, producing young fish 8-10 mm long (McDowall, 2000).
Lifecycle stages
Matures at three to four years of age. Spawning occurs in spring (McDowall, 2000)."

So yes, they will have hatched, but you will have to stop the adult fish eating them.
