Advertising on this page!

I keep getting advertising appearing acroos the top of the screen and down the side whenever I open a message, has the managers of this forum spoilt it by stooping to the wants of advertisers? Do they need the money? Gees this computer of mine, in an area where I'm unable to access cable, is slow enough already!! Might have to stop coming in here, and that'd be a shame. Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks Mistymorn, for your response, I'll go have a look at Gardening in Oz and, sadly, leave the Gardeweb site for those with speedier computers.
PS. The add above: "Find Recipes for the Perfect Treats in....." Or on the side "The Volvo XC 90", what've they got to do with gardening? The adds aint even relevant!

None of my kiwi's did well in containers, even large containers. They grow fine but never bloomed until planted in the ground and even then it took a couple of years. I think the root mass has to reach a certain size in order for them to mature and fruit - hard to do in a container. I don't know about your climate but down here in North Carolina I advise anyone wanting to grow kiwis to never step near the vines without pruners in your hand. They need constant pruning or else they will take over the world.

If you are using your own computer definitely get Firefox with Adblock Plus. Computer Help Forum - GardenWeb will tell you which versions to get and were to get them. They are really quite safe and simple to download and install and will not take up significant room on your computer.

Next time, you could try clearing out your cookies. Last month, I watching an item at Target. All of a sudden I got a transparent Target ad across most of the GW page. When I clicked on the GW page, it still took me to Target. I was ready to scream. Cleared out my cookies - all was good. ;-) This post was edited by monet_g on Tue, Jan 15, 13 at 9:28

With all due respect for "Jane Doe", it's very possible that although she proofread the document, the person responsible for setting it up on the web page probably added the last two sentences. Jane takes the laughs with a misguided, but well meant, thank you from someone else.

The ads are almost totally irrelevant to us.
These sites have American roots and therefore the ads are American.

I have exactly the same problems as "funnelweb" does. No broadband available and snail pace download speeds at the best of times-- made worse by advertising.
Goodbye Australian Native Plant Forum
