Hey, that is definetely a cucumber beetle. They eat plants and carry the bacteria that causes bacterial wilt in their gut. Very bad guy as dig dirt put it-they can destroy an entire garden. I grab them out of the garden by hand and kill them (be sure not to toss the carcass in the garden due to the bacteria!). I like Neem oil to deter them. I also use a bit of diatomaceous earth scattered here and there in the garden to prevent them from laying eggs and creating minions. The D.E. should be used with caution though, as it does not discriminate (kills good guys too). Hope this helps.

So, who sent them to my house? I had never seen one of these critters until after I read this thread this morning. Went out in search of mexican bean beetles and found dozens of these little kudzu bugs all over my christmas limas! they don't seem to like my malibu pole beans on the other side of the trellis, thank goodness. i hand picked and knocked as many into a bucket of soapy water as I could but they are hard to get to. most were wedged between the vines and wire they are running up. I will be vigilant from now on.

They are pill bugs. I believe Sluggo Plus can be used to get rid of them. Rodney

Basically..those spots are just scars. There's no eggs or larvae in there. Depending on how heavily bitten the beans are, you can probably just snap the brown parts out and eat the rest. As far as I know...all beans will get damage if you have stinkbugs..could be you just didn't have them earlier, or they were feeding on something else.
