Remember that exporting biological materials from Australia and importing them into NZ, by post and by individuals, is illegal under the quarentine laws of both countries.

In addition NZ has some what stricter biosecurity laws aimed at preventing the importation of invasive plant species.

Of course I would apply for a NZ licence to import plants/seeds from Australia.... there is usually a lengthy quarantine period once plants/seeds have arrived in NZ.
New Zealand exports a large number of Waratahs worldwide... there are several commercial growers but to date only the red and the 'pink' variety are grown here. Hence my interest in the white one.

Contact the people at Proteaflora (http://www.protea.com.au). They export plants around the world and might be able to put you in contact with a NZ distributor.

the white waratah is not from tasmania
it is a T.SPEC that naturally occurs in the southern highlands in NSW around Braidwood

the tasmanian waratah is more like the tree waratah found in QLD and VIC

There is a white and a yellow, naturally occurring, variety of the Tasmanian waratah. Please read the link.

I grow the red one down here in Tas. The Tas. waratah is not a whole lot like Alloxylon flammeum except maybe in flower form... but only a little. Tallest I have seen growing was in Cradle Mountain near where I live outside one of the chalets and was probably about 5m tall and about as wide. I have some seedlings growing now from this bush... very slow (or maybe just erratic) to germinate... If you get some seed sow them in autumn but leave the pot undisturbed for over a year. I planted mine last autumn and am still getting germinations now a year later.

This is not true. The original poster is talking about the hybrid Telopea's derived from the white form of T. truncata found by the late Essie Huxley (who named her house Telopea because of her love of this plant).

I now have a few white waratahs. I have about 300 of the red variety originating from NSW I believe but grown by a wholesaler here.

This year the leaves, towards the top of each plant are yellowing .

Does anyone have any suggestions about the cause.
