conservatory plants and a good subscription?

Hi folks,

Just moved into a house a few months ago, and it has a conservatory. I put a few plants in it that I thought might tolerated the extremes of temperature. I was wrong. :(

Any input on which plants can manage in there year round? The conservatory is Southeast facing and I live in a coastal town in Fife, Scotland. I rarely use the heater in there in the winter, and will be away for long days at work in the summer (i.e. I won't be able to attend to the temp and ventilation as much as I'd like).

Also, this will be my first time gardening in the UK. I had veggies, shrubs and flowering plants in Colorado for a few years, but the climate, soil and pests are quite different here. I had a subscription to Organic Gardening while living there, and found it quite useful. Is there an equivalent here?
