Our beloved Spoodle pulled all but one branch off our 2-3 year old mandarine. I tidied up the tears and am a bit nervous about shortening the one remaining branch, which is full of leaves and top heavy. The stubs of the damaged branches look dead. They are situated about 4 inches above the graft. I would like to prune the remaining branch in order to encourage growth lower down but am worried about totally denuding and possibly killing the tree. Has anyone any idea whether the tree would survive such drastic pruning?
