Growing Albany Woolly Bush

I live in the Adelaide Hills where the weather can be cold and frosty to very hot. The native Albany Woolly Bush was suggested to me as a hedge to hide our iron fence. The spot we planted these lovely health plants is facing South (Hence the fence shades the bushes until late Spring and then full sun all day). However, they seem to be going backwards with some branches dying. The soil is very pliable and healthly and seems to drain well. I have only water them when first planted as it has rained on and off since. Does anyone have suggestions on why these plants are not growing? Is it lack of sun at this stage? Thank you Hobbsy
