hollyhocks & delphiniums

Aplogies if this should go on the perennials or seeds forums...

Q.1

I'm a UK gardener considering buying some hollyhock seeds I saw in'Homebase' and sowing them this weekend. They are award winning US ones that grow to 5' which suits me as I don't really want the 7' varieties. Alternatively, I see 'Homebase' also has small packaged packets of two young hollyhocks for sale too.

Do you know if they will both produce flowers this summer? Wording on packaging is a little unclear I think...

Q.2

I understand that hollyhocks are rust prone. In your experience in UK do you recommend I give up on the idea of growing them? Would I have less trouble with Delphiniums (I know slugs go for them, but don't know if they are equally disease prone)

Q.3

Do you know how long H's and D's produce flowers for? I think the hollyhock labels said a 2 month+ period of July-September. Don't delphiniums just come up with flowers for about 2-3 weeks only?
