It might be late in the season, but if anyone has a few of these I have the following to trade: - Curuba (Colombian variey) - Badea (Colombian variety) - Uchuva (Colombian variety) - Star fruit/Carambola (Florida variety) - Guava (small-white Mexican variety) - Cactus Pear (white) - Dragon fruit/pitaya (white) - I also have sprouts of red dragon fruit that I could try sending.

I'm interested in the dragon fruit sprouts, but not sure if I have anything you'd want. If there is nothing from my list, I have several of other seeds plus plants I could take cuttings from. Email me & ask & I might just have :)

Thanks Desertdance,Bruce and Olga! Desert, good luck with your new little PG plants! Bruce, thanks for the encouragements, I really hope your right about the warmth factor. I will be honest, last year I didn't water as much as I should have. We are still in a drought(last year this time also), Last year, I remember the leaves on my trees literally drooping at times from lack of water. I should have watered more, looking back on it. I am definitely taking care of it a lot better this year...I have been watering it more often and fertilized it in March. This year has a lot more buds than last year, so apparently it appreciated the regular watering during the dry spells and rewarding me with more buds. Actually, I would grow these just for their beautiful leaves and flowers...the fruit is delicious...but it is just a bonus! Bruce, that poor Mango tree suffered a lot during the freeze in Jan. It is recovering quite well, considering how bad it looked...I thought the freeze killed it! Most of the leaves "fried"... I have one that was really damaged...and I only have a few growths on it now...very slow recovery, but at least its alive. I also have a couple of Lychee trees that was damaged by the freeze, but not nearly as bad as the Mangoes...these are bouncing back a lot faster and growing. I even have a few(very small) fruits developing for the first time! Brewster Lychee...you can see some of the bare branches where the freeze damage was.

I have been in the Jax area growing tropical fruit. You can just put up one of those cheap metal framed 10 x20 ft carport that comes with the plastic white top, in a box from H Depot etc. and secure it to the ground with long anchors. Lowes, H Depot etc sells some really long ones or you could just put some 5 gal buckets halfway into the ground, fill them w cement then anchor the 'legs' of the carport that way or some variation etc. I get those big rolls of painter's plastic from Home Depot that are 6mil. 100ftx20 ft roll. You are gonna cut your pieces as needed for length and fold it so it is now a 12 mil. thick and 10ft high. You can then wrap your carport with it for winter. We usually cut a separate part for a 'door' in the front so we can water. I only use a propane heater if its gonna go below freezing. On hot days, you may need to leave the front door rolled up to vent it. I've been doing it this way for 14 yrs and it works fine in zone 9a. Our new farm is in zone 8b so I will have more colder nights where I may have to run heat so I may build a permanent gh there.
