Toni~ It would look good mounted, but about the only place to do that is an area that would put it too close to the ceiling, or above the tv.. which hubby doesn't care for the idea there..LOL! Plus I worry all the loud noise from TV would upset the plant..LOL! Hubby gets all the loud, blow them up, die hard kinda movies...lol! I too was shocked at the size~ It was cramed into the middle of a huge table of house plants. All I had seen was one leaf sticking out. So I moved dozens to get to it! LOL! How do you water them if mounted? It would seem to get messy! Zusya~ Mike~ no room in my tub or shower...ROFL!! Its a very small bathroom, and no light due to awning over patio. :( My girlfriend has a garden tub I would kill for, but no room in my house for one... :( Mike~ Did you get your fern yet?? amccour~~ I hope yours comes back too! Gary, not familiar with your request, but after much work trying to grow moss inside my terrariums, I hit upon the idea of spores. That did the trick. Took some time, but really did well. Collected them from fall moss dry up on wall and then blew them into backdrop (hypertufa) Really nice and apparently since it grew up in this environment didn't go through any shock as did moss I collected and tried to transplant. Guess I am saying, worth a try. Best Sherry

Socks, Disneyland and I have a lot in common, heh heh, and no, not because I'm "goofy"! I like a lot of the plants they use, and how they create such cheerful/jarring combinations. I just planted a bare root 'Disneyland' rose, which, while not jarring, is certainly perky like the many they have planted there. I've been gardening since I was five years old and have reached the point where I just plant what I enjoy and what makes me smile, so "tastemakers" be damned, lol. The brighter, taller, and stinkier, the more I like my orange marigolds. I actually struggle to find non-dumpy dwarf types. Usually I get them from Select Seeds or Seeds of Change...what about you? I'd be inclined to treat it as a bifurcatum, that's likely how it's been treated so far and is doing well. The thing to keep in mind is that epiphytes live off rain water, some town water is loaded up with chemicals. Over watering can cause problems, even though they're mostly a rainforest plant in nature they do get a fairly dry winter. It's a very nice plant and with the right name you can also search out the best advice on it. There's a couple of dozen different species of Platycerium, I've only grown P. superbum and P. bifurcatum but would like to get a P. veitchii.
