There's no rule saying you can't mix vegetables and ornamentals in the same garden. Furthermore, some gardeners line out ornamentals in the vegetable garden while they bulk up or until space becomes available elsewhere. Providing each has sufficient space and ornamentals do not interfere with cultivation and harvesting there is no problem.

Pea, the tree at Aldi's is a beautiful Crepe Myrtle. If you look around at some of the shopping areas you will see Crepe Myrtle trees is various colors including white. They are a spectacular eye catching tree that blooms several times during the warm months. In the winter they shed their leaves and go dormant. I have grown a pink one from seed and it looks to be the same color as the mother plant. So go ahead and propagate one. I wouldn't think that it was a special exotic cross-bred tree at a shopping mall (those seeds can be different than the mother plant). It is a very pretty tree! Linda Leaf

Thanks, zkathy. We hostafolks always try to look out for one another regarding sales & stuff. Since lots of people asked me how I made my plant I.D. tags, I wrote the explanation. I don't know if that was a one-day sale or what at Drs. Foster & Smith, but if I see other usable aluminum pet tags on sale, I'll post those sales, too. Those ChicagoScrews 1/8" diameter binding posts are sooo perfect for attaching the pet I.D. tag to the aluminum tent stake. I tried several ways to attach those things, but none of them was as neat and sweet as the ChicagoScrews.
