Yeah, I see now that your close-up photo was just showing us the worst of it. There are two possibilities, as I see it. It's not clear from the photo, so you'll have to look more closely yourself. Possibility 1: Your plant is actually a pot full of many smaller plants, instead of one big plant. (This is typical for EA plants) In this case, you might have some whose roots have failed and are looking like your first picture, and others who are still in good health. In that case, you would just need to try and re-root (or throw out) the vines that look like they are dying, and leave the healthy ones alone. Possibility 2: Your plant is actually one whole plant, and you just can't see the problem yet in the whole plant. What you would see in that case is that all the oldest leaves and vines, close to the root ball, are shriveling and dying, but the newer ones toward the ends are still looking unaffected. Trace all the vines back to the soil and see if all or only some are looking like they're in bad shape. If it's all one big plant, you would need to take cuttings and re-start, because left alone eventually the whole plant will show dehydration and death. My guess is you have an EA plant and it's "Possibility 1." I think your potting medium is good, so I wouldn't worry about re-potting. Just determine what you will need to re-root and go from there in the same medium.

Hi and welcome North Dakota, sorry that you contacted our hoya disease and you should also know there is no known cure. Now to your question, the Krimpson Queen and the Krimson Princess are both carnosas and clones of the original carnosa. The queen is the standard varigated version meaning the center of the leaf is green and the edges are cream colored. The princess is the reversed varigated or "rubra" version that has the cream in the center and green edges. You will find that many hoyas and in fact other plants as well have these two variations Original carnosa carnosa "Krimson Queen"  carmosa "Krimson Princess" The red or pink you find on the leaves will almost always fade to cream as the leaf matures. -Leon Â

The spots are red if I am seeing them correctly right? If they are then it is a response to intense light. If you don't like the spots then move the plant to slightly less light, that's what I would do if this were my plant. Fungal spots usually start as a dark spot and then they spread outwards as the fungi consumes the nearby cells. The tissue becomes yellow etc as the disease spreads. This is not the case with your plant so I am confident that this is not a disease. On the subject of this type of response to light I would like to mention that although we often like the look of the Hoyas that produce colourful leaves it is not always desired, it can be overdone. This is a response by the plant to reduce the amount of or a articular wavelength of light being absorbed by the leaf. Many Hoyas would show this response seasonally during the stressful dry season when deciduous trees drop their leaves and water is scarce. During the rest of the year when conditions are better for growth the plants may well appear all green. Marcincon, Carnosa sap is usually more watery than sticky, but I don't really have any trouble with it dripping off the plant like I do with kerrii. It usually stays on the flowers unless it gets disturbed. If your plant is in a high-traffic area and gets bumped, that might be the problem. But if you've got a particularly sappy one that drips without being disturbed, I would just lay some newspaper under it - that way, you can just take it up and put down new when it needs it. This is what I do with my kerrii. It's in my GH, but I get tired of cleaning up the super-sticky almost black sap off the tile floor. It cleans up with just soap and water, if you don't let it sit for a long time. A little bit of vinegar on a sponge takes it right up if it's a little more "set." Congrats on your flowers!
