Yeah, I see now that your close-up photo was just showing us the worst of it. There are two possibilities, as I see it. It's not clear from the photo, so you'll have to look more closely yourself. Possibility 1: Your plant is actually a pot full of many smaller plants, instead of one big plant. (This is typical for EA plants) In this case, you might have some whose roots have failed and are looking like your first picture, and others who are still in good health. In that case, you would just need to try and re-root (or throw out) the vines that look like they are dying, and leave the healthy ones alone. Possibility 2: Your plant is actually one whole plant, and you just can't see the problem yet in the whole plant. What you would see in that case is that all the oldest leaves and vines, close to the root ball, are shriveling and dying, but the newer ones toward the ends are still looking unaffected. Trace all the vines back to the soil and see if all or only some are looking like they're in bad shape. If it's all one big plant, you would need to take cuttings and re-start, because left alone eventually the whole plant will show dehydration and death. My guess is you have an EA plant and it's "Possibility 1." I think your potting medium is good, so I wouldn't worry about re-potting. Just determine what you will need to re-root and go from there in the same medium.

I would cut it above the bad leaves and restart it. I'm not really sure what the problem is - your climate is enough different from mine, it could be something I'm completely unfamiliar with. Although I will say that I've seen a leaf here and there that gets similar splotching or pitting. But it's usually isolated and I suspect it's more about damage than disease. I will also add that I would have a hard time growing kerrii in the mix you are using. Kerrii, for me, is a water guzzler and dries out FAST, and even in my climate, I think it would be hard to keep it watered enough. I would go to a heavier mix. I use 2 parts coir and 1 part perlite, but you could also use an all-purpose mix with either added perlite or the orchid bark. Best of luck with your kerrii. Denise in Omaha

If it's not light then it's possibly heat. The reaction you see, the red pigments, are produced from either bright light or low temperatures. What climate are you in or do you know the night time low temperature when this occurred? Is it possible that the bricks get hot during the day or that for part of the day sun hits the plant? If it's in shade all day then I am not sure of the cause. The corky growth in the second photo looks different form the damage in the first photo. Is this only on the surface or is it dry and papery all the way through the leaf? There are also fungal scab diseases but I am not aware of any that infect plants from the Asclepiadaceae family that Hoyas belong to. Mike

Good afternoon, sorry for the brief information. Christmas last year I bought various Hoya plant cuttings from a reputable online company. These cuttings were purchased from a Zone 10 - temperate area and relocated to a zone 11a - warm or subtropical. I used rooting powder with the cuttings and planted in a pearlite and potting mixture. Watering occurred every three days for 3-4 weeks then once soil dried out, approximately 1-2 times a week. The plants are East facing and get 3-5 hours of morning sun. They were 2 months ago transplanted into larger pots (from seedling containers). Please see attached photo's I am new to cuttings and that why I bought from a reputable supplier on line, I followed all instructions on the rooting powder packet. All were stem cutting with nodes. All cuttings had reasonably healthy leaves to begin with, only recently have they started to fold / go yellow Note that the plant above is pitting / indenting as well as having some black spots on leaves. The other four Hoya variations I purchased are growing, happy and healthy. Any ideas, suggestions would be most appreciated.
