lemon trouble

i have a lemon which is in its third year in the ground (clay soil). it has started bearing huge lemons and flowers prolifically but sheds many of its leaves (after they turn yellow) especially in the colder months. it is of the 'eureka' variety. i feed it with large amounts of compost and mixed manures, and have even tried citrus foods (prefer to not use chemicals). i see some other trees in the area with the same problem. should i be worried?
