Hi Peggy I grow lots of things in pots in Florida in Jungle Mix (one of my faves) but... not when the heat is on. My pot season starts in September and runs through... well now. When the heat starts I start pulling plants. Good ones (roses, fruits, perennials) go in the ground. Seasonal (tomatoes, other veggies, seasonal flowers) go in the compost bin. The heat is just too much to keep up with the watering and heaven forbid we should want to go out of town. I have 5 more roses waiting their planting turn and 8 have already been tucked in. As far as a good mix Al over in the Container forum has a terrific one. Fast draining=happy plants, it is wonderful. Can't be bought, have to DIY. I have trouble finding the bagged shredded pine bark this far south in FL even though it is manufactured upstate and shipped nationwide. Denise just north of you in Englewood (near Venice)

actually scotty, Im absolutely counting on some cross pollenation!, I have a handful of isolated seeds, but I am truly excited about spinning the wheel in a 50 variety gene pool, as I have said I have never met a chile I dont like, the only real concern I have is the 3 pubescens I have growing because of course they wont cross w/ any other species, but they havent blossomed yet and they are seperated by 50 yrds or so away from the rest, but I have seen some very cool crosses, shoot the bhuts we all love are just hybrids of trinidad chiles anyway, as are so many other wonderful peppers, i wiil try to grow some wilds and true to types but to create a new hybrid that I love would make me very happy! paul

The journal and calligraphy pen sound like a wonderful idea. It can only get better. I believe that fine, small motor control improves with age and also that most boys are not interested in pretty writing. Perhaps relate architecture to nicer writing. My 48 yr. old son grabs a pen and looks like he is going to print an "X" instead of his name. It's almost, and may be, a grip where the pen is held by four fingers surrounding it. He also prints/ writes and presses down hard on the paper, enough to make indentations. An observer, a caring observer, could guess that he has a hard time with writing/printing. He hunts and pecks on the computer and claims that he is proficient and fast (probably in defense of an anticipated suggestion from mom that typing lessons are in order). In kindergarten he was tested and we learned that his small motor skills were at a 2 year old's level. He played tennis beginning at 5, became a ranked player, #1 singles at a competetive high school, mvp on the college tennis team, and taught tennis during college and law school. He is now out of state, arguing at the Supreme Court of a southwestern state. Last Feb he did his mommy proud when he argued before the U.S.Supremes, a parental payback. He is a really nice person and has to work extra hard. He talks to himself. Daughter2 holds a writing implement in an unusual way. Not efficient. Experts told us that after age 9 it is difficult to change one's writing and/or grip. I don't believe that for one moment. Eye surgeons write illegibly sometimes. It is a baby wart. The Pittman Honor Roll is as dead as cursive. We want our kids to be perfect in every way, and they really are.

Actuality I am very logical. Had to be in my line of work. Your water to gun comparison is not logical . Adding more water is not going to lessen or accelerate the devastation of flooding. Water is not the cause of the flooding. Flooding is cause by man trying to alter his environment. Just like more or less guns are not the cause of shooting deaths, but mans need to kill. Water and guns are objects that do not have brains and as such can not plan death or destruction. Most crimes are committed with illegal guns. Your not going to stop illegal guns no more than anyone is going to stop all illegal drugs. If someone has the money to buy an illegal gun it isn't hard to get one off the streets. And there is always going to be someone there to sell it to them. Stricter gun laws are not going to stop illegal firearms. Yes, I agree to back ground checks before you are able to purchase and resister a gun and it should be the same across all states. I should be able to carry anywhere in the US. Not state by state. But like everything else there are going to be people who fall though the cracks even if it is federally controlled . And if they are denied a registered gun they are just going to buy it off the street anyway. This current shooter did purchase his gun legally and I don't know Florida gun laws, but I didn't read anywhere that he had past crimes or was under psychological care or ever been in institutionalized due to mental illness. If there is no past history, nobody has ESP and predict how a person will use a gun. It is illogical to think if you make gun law stricter that there will be less guns, because legit people will still be able to legally buy guns and the people who can not get them legally will always be able to buy them from the black market.
