Brugmansia

Hi, I live on the South Coast and grow Brugmansia. Iprune them in Autumn and keep them frost-free. every February they look decidedly unhappy and sometimes I lose the odd plant. Can anyone help with this problem, Thanks

They're sub-tropical, so they'd probably prefer a balmy 60 degrees rather than merely frost-free! Still, as long as most of them stay alive you're doing alright. Everything in my greenhouse looks grim come February but most of it perks up when the warmer weather arrives.

Anyone got any brugmansia cuttings to trade? I left mine out on a frosty night by accident - it really, really didn't like that.

Thanks garden_nerd. I'll keep them warm and hope! I've got a 2yr. old yellow Brug. that I'd gladly trade but given the size of it, transport would be a problem. I live near Southampton.

I have to tell you I had a very hard time replacing the one that i lost. Soon However Fred Sommers will be opening up a store where you will be able to purchase some of the best brugmansias out there. I know him so i was able to purchase one pre-opening. I am sure when Sommer gardens has it's official launch you guys will know about. This brug is one of the rare ones, but it is VERY hardy and worth the investment of time and money (fertilizer isn't cheap) to have in your collection. Also Ibrugs members will receive discounts at his store...and he has some beautiful plants. He is a florida grower and gets an early start so robust plants will be available for sale...Rosalie is truly a gem
