I'm about 30 minutes north of Philly. I haven't watered in over a week though we are getting rain all day today and tomorrow. That picture was taken yesterday. I bought some Bayer fungicide to spray on the lawn when the rain stops and it dries up...hope that is what I should use?

There are people who say "spray fungicide" at any possible sign of fungus and there are people like me who refuse to use it. Nitrogen exacerbates fungal problems, so it's generally good to hold off on fertilizer if you suspect fungus. However you may have had nitrogen deficiency and needed some. Thank goodness you didn't use the urea! Milorganite for the most part is slow release. Try keep the grass blades dry, so if you need to water, do it early in the day so the grass can dry off before evening. If the problem looks like it's spreading and you are worried about major damage, here is some information on the kinds of fungicide least damaging to the mycorrhizae fungi: fungicides and mycorrhizae You had a soil test last year. Did it say you were low in potassium? If you were, Milorganite doesn't provide any. You could use potassium sulfate 0-0-50 to supplement the Milorganite. Hi- A few of us are located in NNJ also. We've been having the same problems as you. It's just been a bad year for lawns around here. I also applied Bayer and I think you're supposed to repeat it after 14 days. I would pull those weeds by hand making sure to get the roots and bag them up.

So you're not in the worst of the heat wave like we're getting and, while rather a lot of water, it's merely too much rather than hyper-extreme. I think I'd go with DiseaseEx right now (Azoxystrobin) and cycle in two weeks if the problem continues (one shot might take that out. Might). In two weeks, use something different. As this summer cycles down, try setting the watering to every 4 days instead of twice a week. It'll discourage the fungal cycle. And always water early enough in the day that the lawn is dry by nightfall. Where water stands...well, that's harder, of course. Avoid if possible, but sometimes it's not. Optimally, you'll deliver 1" of water a week, however that's dropped. See if you can then stretch out to every 5 days. The lawn may wilt a little bit at mid-day. If it recovers by morning, that's fine--it means the roots caught up. Right now, at 94 to 98 degrees, mine's doing that daily. And it hasn't rained in a week and I don't irrigate. You may not get past that next summer, but see how far it stretches. Some lawns really stretch. Others, not so much. Almost all northern lawns will go seven days once trained. Some, far longer.
