Hi Phyl, Speciosum Rubrum is a late blooming lily (Aug-Sept). It also blooms a week or two earlier in sunny spots than shadier spots. With your short summer you might want to plant them in a sunny spot so you can enjoy them before it gets too cold. I don't know where in Central NY you are located, but my father and his whole side of the family are from the Syracuse/Cazenovia area. There have been years when the leaves started to turn in the late half of AUGUST! Luckily my mom's family is from Baltimore and that's where I've settled. Heck around here we're still using air conditioning AT NIGHT in August. :) -Helen
