zanne_lh.... I had forgotten about this form of arborescens. Found mine today, while watering a nearby macrophylla It has stronger canes than 'Annabelle', plus the flowers on mine are smaller, so it remains very upright. Hydrangea arborescens 'White Dome' The flowers are lacecap form, like the wild form, which I happened to win as a door prize at yesterday's meeting of the American Hydrangea Society. Hydrangea arborescens (Native "Wild" Form) I have 2 forms of H. radiata (formerly listed as a subspecies of arborescens). They are cultivars, 'Samantha' and 'Eco Pink Puff'(a pink flowering form). 'Samantha' has been a wimpy one for me and has not grown well. EPP is a robust, upright, large cane cultivar, but flowers pink. Thought you might be interested. Rb

Now that you are convinced tenting is necessary lets mention venting. With the warm humidity under your tent fungus in the form of mold, is quite likely to grow. It is almost impossible to have a starting medium with no fungus spores included. I always remove my tents every other day and turn them inside out, before putting them back on, as this removes the excess moisture, in the form of condensation, on the inside of the tent. When I first started propagating cuttings I would leave the tent off for 20 minutes or so before putting it back. Believe it or not, this is long enough to allow the the cutting(especially soft wood cuttings)to wilt, from which they have a struggle to recover. Al

Dear all, as fall is knocking at the gardengate I'll have lots of cuttings(and tubers) of the following species in the near future: Fuchsia arborea, Brugmansia ( rose and two white types), Piper auritum, Canna musaefolia, Amorphophallus konjac, Dioscorea oppositifolia. Some two year old, healthy plantlets of Sassafras albidum are also for disposal. I would like to share this plantmaterial with other planthunters and want to swap. I'm looking for ferns and interesting viburnums (even cuttings of course)or anything (hardy) unusual. I've special interest in Tetrapanax 'steroidal Giant'also.
