Hi David. You might try a glyphosate spray (Round Up) on it with some positive results, use it on actively growing leaves as per instructions.

I agree with John, There is no other way. If you start pulling it out even the smallest little piece will regrow. Best to treat with Round up or Zero (same thing only different strength.) If you dont want to spray then apply it with a paint brush. The glyphosate wont harm the soil or surrounding plants as long as it doesn't come in contact with their leaves. Good luck. Mountain Girl

Best to use a Spray Fix or even Pulse with your Roundup, both a Yates product. Pulse is better it helps break down the structure of the plant and the poison will travel through the plant's system better. Spray early morning or evening as the plants absorb the spray better as it is usually actively growing at those times.

Round Up, Zero, heavy gloves and a strong pull. Try painting it with Blackberry poison, or turps, or boiling salted water - anything! Start from the outside, pulling up every vestige, and work your way inwards until it's gone. BTW it's Wandering Jew, although perhaps this is not particularly politically correct these days.

You will have to spray it regualarly for a long time. My mum had some at her place about 2 years ago, I drenched it with Roundup but it didnt die off completely and is still coming through now! I sprayed it every 2 weeks for a while then once every month or two. It just keeps coming back but its under control if I keep poisonig it. Less and less comes back. Hopefully it will eventually stop!

I used to work as a bush regenerator and it is a nightmare to get rid of. We had our best luck when we used Roundup with a surfactant as was suggested by John and others. The cheap option is just to add a few drops of detergent to your Roiundup mix - this helps the Roundup to stick and also penetrate the waxy leaf surface. But sometimes the best option is to just hand weed it out, carefully and methodically.

Just been reading the Tropicals Forum - they're growing it on purpose! They say it looks nice!

If you have to go the herbicide route, another option is Starane. (If you have questions about toxicity, there is information on Google under "starane msds")
