HAVE: Rocoto tree chilli (Capsicum pubescens)

My favourite sort - these will live for 10+ years and produce prolific thick fleshed fruit (quite hot) even through winter. I have about 5+ in pots of various sizes - mostly around 6 inch and the plants are just starting to flower.

Would like to trade for interesting edibles. Located in Doveton, but can bring into Melbourne Uni if that's easier.

Have you 6 seeds to send me,and I can send you 6 Kashmiri chilli seeds,or 6 long yellow beans...nearly like snake beans but not as compact seed pods. Or I can send you SSAE. Thanks

The andes cover quite a large area. From the south of latin america to the north. And from sea level to the highest parts where only few plant survive. So plant life and climate are indeed very diverse and one cannot easliy make generalised statements about its climate conditions... But cold (or cool) nights might indeed have something to do with successfully growing rocoto Bob in pc, i see u are from florida. I live on the island of curacao in the caribbean. If i am not wrong, it is constantly just as hot here as it is during the floridian summer. My harvest takes place all year round (thank god). At what temperature does pollen become sterile?

OK. www.fiery-foods.com says that pubescens will not cross with anything, but it seems the rest will hybridise to some extent. And some crosses infertile one way but not the other...now's as good a time as any to get my head round plantbiology/genetics! I'm still confused on the sweet pepper thing...all except rocoto cross with them right? My garden's going to look like a solanum prison.
