Else I would not know, but if you could place a picture of how they look like, that might help more expert people...

Those "yin yangs" are fun to find, but not really unusual, especially with Gold Standard. Most likely the plant will settle down and not do that next year, but you never know. Take notes to remind yourself to look again. The green eyes will take over just about any plant, so separate them if you can get to the eyes, or at least cut off the leaves at the crown. Well, I discovered a few days ago that my Revolution has finally produced an all-green leaf after growing in my garden since 2011! I will see what tomorrow brings when I check whether it is just a leaf, or whether it belongs to a shoot. Whilst meandering amongst my hostas, I thought I'd check on Vanilla Cream and Rainforest Sunrise (close together) and this is what I found on VC - looks like a forked tongue on a snake...almost. Rather unusual. Imagine my surprise when I found more new seedlings... I may have one from SILVER STAR. Have to check again tomorrow...in my excitement, I forgot to snap a photo, lol. Anyone else find anything unusual lately?

I found this article on sport preservation and thought it was interesting. Hosta Forum members have often found sports and asked how to preserve them. And time and time again, the sport dwindled away or died the following year after separation. So I think Van Wade's method may be a way to save a sport. One just needs to decide whether the sport has merit on its own and how important it is for you to save it. In my limited experience, I have found solid sports to be more vigorous---many times crowding out the variegated mother hosta---and eventually taking over. With this Striptease plant, the sport has been slow to grow and has been there now for five years. Sounds pretty stable to me. (Variegated sports grow slower?) I'm not into killing hostas. I love my hostas! I don't think Van Wade's method kills the mother hosta. But it would certainly weaken it. The bottom line is how important is this sport to you? So for me, I love big hostas and I am trying to grow some of them in large containers. This Striptease happens to be one of them. So when I am "ready," I will divide Striptease into four and see what happens to the sport. I can then, at some point later, cut the mother plant to allow the sport to gain more strength. It's all part of the fun of growing hostas!
