Wild Sweetie Tomato

I was wondering if any of you could tell me if "WILD SWEETIE" tomato from Diggers is a Currant Tomato? A friend of mine emigrate to Australia and sent them to me and I have them in my greenhouse right now. The plants have set about three trusses of fruit and, to be honest, I have never seen such a wee tomato in my life.

I assume that if it is a currant that I must be very careful as it will cross easily with my other toms.

Do you mean the L.pimpnellifolium the wild form of tomato....
These fruit are only around 1cm in diam sometimes getting twice that size but most common in the smaller size > Very tough self setting and ramble, flat leaf?
Hey have a green house here too similar to yours, makes sense with summer last year reaching 115 F hehehe I grow in there using hydroponics during winter I would be interested to hear what else you grow and how generally you manage you GH

Thanks for responding to my query.
I just updated my GW page with a link to my 2nd greenhouse.
Right now, I only have tomatoes- 50 or so in soil and another 10 in pots, peppers (Japanese green peppers and shishitou (sweet), and alpine strawberries. Perhaps I should do an inventory of what is growing.....
Hydroponics.....I don't suppose you have any pics do you.
I will be updating my photos....a few tweaks since I installed it.
I have a few Aussie/Kiwi tomatoes growing: Tommy Toe, Earl of Edgecombe, Taupo.

Does anyone know where I can obtain heirloom tomato seeds from a variety called Wild Sweetie Cherry? They are supposed to be sweet as candy but I can't find them anywhere in the US. A seed company called Diggers in Australia has them but they are not allowed by law to ship to the US.

I already checked the SSE Yearbook and no listing for Wild Sweetie. John, I assume it's a red currant variety unless you say otherwise, and I'm wondering how Wild Sweetie is different than the many known named and unnamed currant varieties that attracted you to that specific variety. I just decided to do a Google Search and found a thread from the Aussie Forum here at GW from 2005 and Diggers in Austrailia was carrying it at that time. However, the person asking about re is it a currant, is a person who has a seed business in Canada and I know the person., If you would like me to make a contact to see if he has any seeds please tell me so. He does not list them at his 2009 website. Or I can give you the link to that Aussie thread and you can see if any of them are still online, or, you can try and contact Diggers in Australia, or go to the Cornucopia Forum here at GW and post your want in that forum where the Aussies post. Probably the last option is the most reasonable wat to pursue this. Carolyn

Has anyone else grown Park's Cherry Sweetie tomato

I grew Cherry Sweetie a couple of times. I did notice that some plants were decidedly sweeter than others, but I assumed that it had something to do with my soil conditions. This year, I'm growing Sweet Million. I would say the taste is indstinguishable from CS. The only difference is that SM's are more like a standard cherry in size while my CS's were a good bit smaller. Both are very productive and yummy!

Craig, all the currant tomatoes have the same growth pattern, if you grew the Matt's, you grew them all. While they are very productive and good flavor, they are only snack size. Not big enough to use them in a meal. Few years back, Tomcath had a very long thread going on in this forum and he sent Everglades tomatoes to anybody that asked for. While they were a lot of takers, I have not heard any reports on their growing. Being Tom the nice person that he is, did a lot of cleaning the seeds, mailing, and postage. He did tell me that his favorite were the yellow ones and he sent me those, I also have the Ted's variety that are pink, and I grew in Arizona the Hawaiian ones, also have the Sara's Galapagos, which you wont find it with that name in there, because it was named after a daughter from here.:) Silvia

Wild Sweetie IS a L. pimpinellifolium and it is a currant type.
Of all the tomato types, the currants do not cross (or have never been seen to do so anyway)...Why did you think they might? have you had some experience of this.
The most prone to crossing are the beefsteak types and those with "potato" leaves...but that is by the by
