Dysfunctional bougainvillea
I've had a variegated bougainvillea in a terracotta pot for approximately 4 years now and it is still only a few sticks with sparse, tiny leaves. The longest branch is around 15cms. IÂve watered, IÂve not watered, IÂve fed, IÂve neglected, IÂve repotted, IÂve even pleaded with the thing and it just wonÂt respond. I donÂt know the variety. It may be a miniature, but even then, itÂs still not doing what I think it should (growing leaves, growing bigger). It once had one lovely deep pink flower. The pot is placed in full Melbourne sun for most of the day, next to a brick wall. Is there something I should be doing (apart from admitting defeat and throwing it out)? I could plant it into the garden bed but that receives much less sun in this narrow, inner-city back yard. Any advice?
