WANTED: Cananga odorata - Perfume Tree

Does anyone know anything about the Perfume Tree (Cananga odorata

perfumetree; ilang ilang) and where I might get one?

If so, pls let me know.

I saw and smelled one in a garden on and island in the US Virgin Islands and I loved it. Would love to plant one here.

Where in Australia are you - its a big country? I purchased a 300ml tall one for $4.00 yesterday at a nursery in Eumundi Queensland. Phone:0407623795 (sorry cant give you its name, just phone no from receipt - something like no frills I think) Hope this helps

Yeah, the imidicloprid comes out in new growth, so you're still battling the scale while the growth is coming. I don't like Isotox either. What I have found that works really well is the soap and water, BUT,, I'm using flea shampoo for soap. I figure, it's safe enough for a dog and it's somewhat "natural" using pyrethrins. It's been really effective on spidermites for me and I think it is actually killing the spidermite eggs, since I'm not battling them as heavily this year. I'd probably try the coffee spray, but luckily this year I haven't had a scale outbreak - YET! - but it's early. I have been using the coffee as mulch piled on a couple inches thick around some veggies I grow. ...and I have to say I think it is definitely keeping the whiteflies and powdery mildew at bay. The coffee also works really well against raccoons, slugs and snails. I put it around my Broms and it keeps the raccoons from eating them and I pile it around slug attractors like Taccas and it keeps the leaves looking perfect.

Came upon this old post and hoping that Junglegal sees it. Yesterday I purchased a Ylang Ylang tree from Jene's. $45 for a baby approx. 2' tall. Very healthy. I've done a bit of research and want to be absolutely sure where I want my new baby to be planted. Can you give me a vague idea where you've noticed mature Ylang ylangs in Pinellas Co. Junglegal? Hello Brendon, How did you go with the C.ororata seeds? There are plenty of these trees around Cairns, both in gardens and in the surrounding rainforest. I have one in my garden and there is a huge one growing opposite my house. The scent in the evenings is lovely. I can't say I have ever heard your query before but I do know that the ripe fruit are readily eaten by birds & bats so I reckon when that starts to happen would be the right time to harvest. Grant

Fairhill Nursery at Eumundi?

No. Found their card, No Frills, 1 Cook Street, Eumundi, right in the town of Eumundi almost opposite the police Station. Open Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Just a little country nursery with a few interesting plants and very reasonable prices. Fairhill may have it (is it native??) but the price would be considerably higher for a tree the same size.

I did buy mine from Fairhill which is in Yandina. I can't wait for the flowers!
