Yes, the dill and parsley are for the most part cool-weather herbs, but surprisingly my fennel has been growing year round for the past 4 or 5 years. It grows in partial shade. It keeps going to seed and then "tons" of little ones start coming up. It was full of cats earlier this year, to the point that nothing was left but stems. So I picked them off and moved them to another fennel plant across the yard. I also had parsely in the same bed. They wouldn't touch the parsely but loved the fennel. Who knows? Like I mentioned, Rue Ruta graveolens is a medicinal herb that gets pretty little yellow flowers on it. Rue can cause a rash for some people. I grew mine in partial sunlight until it died out this summer. I got mine at the MG plant sale here in Rockport. I order herbs for our plant sale from Don Cox down in the Valley. Sometimes he has it and other times he doesn't. Any nursery that deals mainly with herbs should have it. Be sure not to purchase the African Rue Peganum harmala which is a Fast-spreading exotic plant is poisonious to Texas livestock and wildlife.
