I grow inchellium red from seed savers along with several other types. Of coarse most of the best is in the ground for the winter but I have enough that I have been eating to get you started . I heard rumors that the central north area had a severe garlic crop failure. I am in south east iowa and much of my crop has dried early in storage but the inchelium red is better than the others. Check my trade list for a list of other types I may still have enough of. I saved some bulbils from silverwhite, zemo and purple italian too. Here is a link that might be useful: ricjo22

soo cool. I just planted some Garlic from Store bought. it has started to sprout so I figured "what the hay". I know they say garlic planting is for fall but I read a few threads on other sites and they say now is okay. Do you think this is true? I planted 36 cloves, and the neat thing I noticed was that there were 4 different colors, some yellow, some white, and some purple. I hope they take. I used mulch because it is still a little cold here upper 40s. lows around 35.

would you be interested in some purple stripe garlic i grew this year? not sure i have any bulbils/seed left (which takes a long time anyway, though i might have some more) but i have a couple of dozen whole bulbs left from this years harvest. i originally got the seed garlic at my farmers market here a few years back, and didnt get any more specific variety name other than its a purple stripe garlic, but i have grown it for multiple years and can say it is excellent =) very very strong flavor, pretty color, nice size cloves. purple stripe is one of the oldest kinds, so this is considered the original grandmother type garlic. i will attach my trade list. btw, i enjoyed your photos =) some beautiful plants you are growing ! Not many varieties of garlic do well here in SE Louisiana. You have several that do. I would love to have of any of the Early Italian Purple, Inchelium Red, Lorz Italian, Red Toch, or Ajo Rojo. I would like to have some Potato onions and shallots also. I have never seen a potato onion yet. The only alliums I have to offer are some bulbils of Egyptian Walking onions. Promethean Spark; Back in the '20s and '30s Cajun people were being treated pretty badly. Many spoke only French. They would gather in homes and barns and play music and dance. This outlet of expression helped many thousands get through the hard times of the depression and persecution. Today's Zydeco music is a product of this wonderful and vanishing heritage. My family had many talented musicians and singers. Not the least of which was my mother and her beautiful voice. Y'all keep up the good work Promethean Spark! I have a pretty large "HAVE" list. I hope you find some seeds there you like.
