Lupins Russell/Skyrocket

Does anyone know where i can buy Russell Lupins and the Skyrocket variety? Ive checked at Digger Seeds, but i dont exactly want to pay for a membership to find out if they have them and find out that they dont. I found Lupins in the store by Erica Vale seeds, but i didnt find Russel Lupins or Skyrocket variety. And any australian site refering to Lupins is about crops. Can anyone tell me If they know where i could get them from inside Australia.

The nursery at Macedon usually has some in tubes for $4 per plant. That's the one in Nursery road, which used to be the forestry nursery. I also saw some on a road side store on the road between Daylesford and Glenlyon the other day (on the RHS going towards Glenlyon). I imagine quite a few nurseries will have them in stock. Let me know if you can't find them - I can save you some seed next summer from mine. I have quite a few colours.

They are like weeds in my yard. Thankfully, I love them and dont mind where they pop up. Mine were started from Russell seeds also. I have a rainbow of colors. Love, love Lupines! I think they formed robust plants the first year and bloomed the second. The leaves are very attractive, and you must put up with the first years growth in order to have a continuum of blooms for ever after. The blooming plant dies off and you have to rely on the baby plants to keep the blooms going. So let the tops ripen and fall over, or scatter the seeds where you want. One of the best plants. Pondy

bettyfb - thanks for the compliments but I can't take the credit for anything other than plunking seeds in growing mix and setting the winter sown containers out in the snow. Ma Nature did the rest. FranciePants - don't get discouraged. From what I've read, lupines are notoriously difficult to keep growing. They thrive in lousy soil, imperfect weather conditions and zero disturbance...i.e., they want to be left alone to grow (or not) right where you plant them. For me, they're worth all the effort & aggravation because they're so spectacular when they bloom but if it's too much for other folks I can understand. Not everyone has time for/is tolerant of prima donna/drama queen plants. There are lots of other perennials that thrive on neglect altho' they likely won't put on the show that lupine flowers & foliage do every spring.

Thank for the info, i bought a Russell Lupin, a Carmine Lupin (red colour) and a white Lupin. Just what i wanted

You do not have to join Diggers to buy. There are reduced prices for members, that's all.

wow 50, thats good value for $2.50. Hey does anyone know if lupin seeds last long after picking?

I might think of getting some seeds myself.
