I'm not a clematis expert but from what I've heard it doesn't sound like it is clematis wilt but it could be either from a lack of water(Clematis need lots of water-about 5 gallons a week in very hot weather ) or a magnesium deficiency. Sometimes epsom salts helps for this but my best advise would be to post your question in the clematis forum. There are some real experts that go there.

Seems a little silly to respond to a 4 year old thread but I couldn't resist. I saw a Mystic Illusion last summer at a very pricy nursery in a display, no idea what it was, brand new gardener. After I made the nice young man track one down for me I took it home and spent the next 6 weeks killing it. So this year I learned a ton about dahlias, searched everywhere and finally found two plants, put them in a big half barrel and they have been doing GREAT all summer. They did stop blooming during the hottest part of the season but have totally bounced back, I think there are 10 blooms on them right now (Oct 1). I am going to try storing the tubers this year, wish me luck (and get some of these yourself, they are amazing!)

It's definitely of the Brassica family (now that I know what I'm looking at, and googled it); the leaves aren't little squatty and 'rounded' on the edges, but are more elongated 'sharp points' on the edges. I added an arrow to this one to show the best view of one of the leaves. Will try to get a better pic in the morning, but thanks for the responses! Here is a link that might be useful:
