Hi Planty01976! Thanks for your help, now I know the common name as well! Cactusfreak named it Alocasia amazonica, some fellows in Germany call it A. sanderiana and I'm not able to differentiate between them. The I.A.S-Alocasia-site has none of them, are they synonymes? But I suppose it is not so unhappy as you regret. It is not blooming for fear of death. The length of the stalks is quite regular and I can't help the light from its horizontal direction. Please compare pictures of some Amorphophallus-individuals in jungle ( or secondary forests ) with very high petioles, growing towards the light beyond the crowns of the trees. In more sun in our gardens or G.H.s the plants are more compact! Generally I turn the plants on my windowsill a small angle every now and then - but I neglected this for a while Sorry hermann

Yes, the shoot in that photo is of a mature specimen and shoots look different in young plantings. Mine as I stated, has some that are the color in the photo - without the spots - but many are a creamy white & green. Just in terms of species that would seem 'common' in your area, Manii Decora also fits as it is recommended for dry areas and there is a fair amount of it in the SW US. I'm curious about the groves that you dug it from - you said there was Moso, Vivax & Henon and you thought this was Henon. Have there been positive ID's on these 3 species or might it turn out that whatever you have is what was thought to be Henon? Can you check the shoots there now? Henon shoots are very distinct from any thing else (except all of the other Nigra cultivars) and you could probably see if the whole grove is something else.

how do i see your photo ? i can't get to it.

She got the IDs she needed. Thanks folks!
