The price is too much, especially when The National Clonal Germplasm Repository at Corvallis, Oregon, sends out plants for free. I put in an order on line there last year for two Rose de Cote d'Or raspberry plants, after David Karp raved about their taste in his article. Two tiny, rooted cuttings arrived a few weeks ago, after around a year's wait, and are leafing out nicely in their one gallon pot. There might not be enough chill here to fruit them, but it's fun trying. Several French websites report that it's one of the most aromatic raspberries in existence. Here is a link that might be useful: NCGR-Corvallis - Rubus Germplasm

Hey! How did I get into this???? But you might have brought up a good idea for future posts! Seeing as you have now started this idea with garden frogs, who has something else in action in the garden with more than 4 legs that they can post? I am a little disappointed and bewildered actually, I have not seen any of them GRT bugs crawling around like I used to. I wonder where they are actually, I wonder WHY they are not here so maybe I can be sure to do whatever the reason is more often! Reason I even bring it up is I was going to follow up with an offensive pic of GRT bugs! I think your post was good and I KNOW you are already 'twisted', join the club.

Thanks for the welcome! I never knew bunnies liked the Hawthorne... there is a big fat one that I've seen around that looks like it would love to nibble on my plants LOL. The area I'm planting is not large and there is a tree stump in the middle of it. I was thinking about covering up the stump with a large container plant like a Bouganvellia, something that would have cascading branches. I think for this particular area I'd like to use a perrenial of medium size like the hawthorne, or at least something I can keep trimmed to medium. I also thought about an Ixora but they are used A LOT around here and I wonder if I'd be bored by it. A butterfly-attracting plant would be nice since it's right in front of a large living room window and could also be enjoyed from inside. Hmmmmmmm....
