Hedwig,
A couple of sites to get you going Check AQIS site (IKON) for details of prohibited seeds. Usually if not on prohibited list, no trouble in getting seeds in. Chiltern Seeds and BT Seeds also have some interesting stuff.

Hi Bob, I am a bit of a newbie to gardening, but am in the habit of measuring germination rates. I homeschool my kids and this would be a really cool science experiment. We are also in the process of starting a new garden so this would be really interesting for us. So, if you don't have three people already I would be interested.

Where To Buy Best Mums, Best Selection of Hollyhock Seeds
Q

Hi Judith, I think the best selection of Hollyhocks is going to come right from the wonderful traders here on GW. I've received many varieties through trades. If you post that you are looking for a wide array over on the Seed Exchange, I'm sure you'll get lots of offers. About the mum, I found it listed at Niche Gardens. I've never ordered from them, I just found it there. Remy Here is a link that might be useful: Emperor of China at Niche

WANTED: When is the best time for seed trading?
Q
Comments (5)
Dottie -- Welcome! I just started out about a year ago and have been trading ever since. I think the boards are always busy with trades since we are all in different seasons. Although I did notice less trading traffic in mid summer when we were all outside tending to our beloved plants. I would suggest to you to get some seeds of something that is a little more rare that you would like to have too -- take some seeds for yourself and trade the rest away. Or you might try the round robins- on the round robin boards, where you can send in a few pack of seeds and you get different seeds back. Some are ones you wanted and those you don't want you can always trade. Before long you will be overrun with seeds, and beware it is rather addicting. I would love to trade with you for some of your hyacinth bean seeds. I tried them this year for the first time and I just love them! I would be delighted to put together a nice big package of seeds for you for SASBE. Most of which are great for winter sowing because I started mine that way. Please let me know if there is anything in particular you are looking for, if I have it I'll be happy to send it along.

Hedwig,

Have had no trouble getting seeds in from O/S as long as not on prohibited list. Germination of Chiltern seed almost 100% Only trouble experienced was when O/S company sent short viability (Aroid) seed in spagnum. Even then AQIS great as advised and had me authorise removal of material, seeds then forwarded. Despite Doomsayers, have had great success with importing seed. The really great Master List is the B & T Seeds site. If interested, happy to send expanded list direct to you so as not to clutter this posting.
