After the bloom?

Hello there. At the beginning of summer I bought 2 nice flowers called petunia x hybrida (sweet candy) and scaevola aemula fandancer which are both in hanging baskets.

They both had lengthy flowering and were really beautiful, but now they have died off.

I was told they were perennials? Will they come back? as both plants look dead, do I cut back all the dead plant in the hope it will come back?

Sorry I am not good at gardening, but would hate to lose them as they were so nice.

Thanks Chris
