Hi I live in Toronto, Ontario Canada. My son is currently visiting Australia. Does anyone know of a garden centre where he could purchase houseplant, outdoor plant seeds that are grown in Australia only. Could you give me a few examples so I could tell him what to look for. Thanks so much, Lorraine Harrietha

If you mean Australian native seeds, the commercial range is pretty poor I'm afraid. Larger nurseries or a hardware chain called "Bunnings" will stock some seasonal varieties from a company called "Yates" but probably limited to strawflowers, hardenbergia, maybe some kangaroo paw or sturts desert pea.
Some specialist native nurseries do their own range of seed.
But there are a multitude of mail-order places, many of whom will probably supply to Canada if your quarantine requirements can be met.

Cottonwood, most likely. Interesting tree that grows everywhere and can get big, but that snow-like fluff isn't much fun.

ARTHUR, Apologies from the colonies then. The last information I had was that they were selling only immature pods. Things must have changed. Note that I said, "independent verification". I could hire the same US labs that they CLAIM to have used, to get any result I want. Extraordinary claims call for extraordinary proof, IMHO. Their labs are NOT independent, (they PAID for the result they got), nor have they, again, to my knowledge, submitted ANY of their "claims" or paperwork to be verified by any other lab. They could have tainted their samples with pure capsasian prior to sending to a testing lab which would give a HIGH result, but we'll never know I guess, because they wont submit their lab testing procedures or paperwork for scientific scrutiny. Guiness Records are BASED IN England, are they not?? Seems a simple matter to me to have Guiness VERIFY their claim, since they are closely available.

Gorgeous and the first I have seen or heard of it. I too wonder why we don't see more of them. I wonder if they would like to live in Houston. We have crepe Myrtle every where here including in my yard, they are in full glorious bloom. I hate how some people have committed crepe murder by cutting them every year to disfigure them so they look so ugly. We were driving in an older area recently and not a single crepe Myrtle had been disfigured that way. They were some of the tallest most gorgeous trees I have seen. It was wonderful to see them as nature intended them to be. I don't know who the idiot was that began the mutilation but they deserve to have some trimming done on them. Mine are completely natural no hack job involved and I love them. That really is a beautiful tree is it near you?
