mock orange choysia or philadelphus

Hi,
can anyone tell me if mock orange / mexican orange, choisya / philadelphus are the same thin or different shrubs. and what is the flowering season of them

they are different, there is over 288,000 known plant in the world today.
These plants they are all call mock orange as a common name but they are different, the Mexican orange which is the Choisya. the philadelphus is a different plant all together it family name in Scientific classification is Hydrangeaceae, where the Mexican orange family name is Rutaceae, sub family Toddalioideae and Genus Choisya
this happens in the world of plants 3 or 4 plant can have the same common name and that why a scientific classifications was made so the plant will not get mistaken for each other
with mock orange I think your refereeing to orange jasmine also know as mock orange :P so scientific classification on him is family name. Rutaceae, Genus Murraya, Species M. paniculata
so put a bit more simple.

Mock Orange ( orange jasmine)
family Rutaceae, Genus Murraya, Species M. paniculata

Mock orange (Mexican orange)
family Rutaceae, sub family Toddalioideae and Genus Choisya

Mock orange (philadelphus)
Family Hydrangeaceae, Genus Philadelphus,

ok flowering for them is
orange jasmine summer time,
Mexican orange late spring and summer
philadelphus spring summer

many thanks. I have 2 now not sure which two as it seems there is 3 with this common name. one flowers every sipping without fail, the other taller and pointier leaf only seem to want to flower every 2 to 4 years. thought I may be cutting back at wrong time and maybe cutting off flowers. so thought if I could work out which is which I can do a bit of research and find right time to cut back or maybe my conditions aren't right the the one thats a bit hard to get on with in flowering. I live in Adelaide.

I grew this a number of years ago. In my garden it had a lot of winter die-back (unlike all other mock oranges I've tried) and it didn't have as nice a gold color to the foliage as other gold shrubs I've grown. How about Spireae thunbergii 'Ogon' AKA Mellow Yellow? It has a graceful arching form, white spring flowers, and foliage that is gold in more sun, a bit more chartreuse in more shade. I'm not sure how well it would do in western sun. I have seen recommendations for full sun to part shade.

just pick one.. how will you ever know its not the best??? your location might help to understand bloom time and duration ... big city name ... btw .. Ps can be pretty ugly during the vast majority of the year.. when they are not in bloom.. and rather ugly .. use a search engine images page.. to see what plant look like.. in the long run ... if you told us where you are.. we might recommend a nearby arborteum.. where you might actually see these things in person ... ken

Np just research a bit more but if you still don't know you can always post a please help pant id tag on this site there is a lot of knowledgeable people on here, just add a photo of the plant a good close up of a leaf the maybe flower if can it would help.
but I think also a good thing is to go to your local Nursery or garden centre and talk to some one from your area that knows plant, take a sample of the two leaf in and they should help you

deniseks - Choisya is evergreen. Philadelphus is deciduous. So they're easy to distinguish. As recommended above a photo would solve it, if not here then on the Name that Plant Forum
