Well after several inquires what we find out is that the common name isn't what this really is (maybe). From my sources here and at UC Davis along with a few other growers no one knows of that plant/type, everyone knows of the white pomegranate and from everything the link you provide I'm certain their the same fruit. It may be that one grower is calling it that common name to provide something different or that's the name people use for it in that area. I contacted the Nursery Industry Development Officer (NIDO) Nursery and Garden Industry NSW & ACT (NGINA) in the land of OZ here's his reply; Thanks for your email. I'm not aware of the plant you mention, this does not mean it is not in Australia or perhaps not propagated. In terms of import requirements these are held by the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service or AQIS as they are known. They set the conditions based on the exporting country and what is to be imported. Were contacting AQIS for other imports to OZ of our plant material.. But I'd like to suggest to you that you contact NGINA, they have a list of every member in you country and could provide you with a better source to locate the White Pom. I'm sure there in OZ as there a common plant here, but this is the problem with using common names instead of botanical names, each region has a different name for the same plant and Pom's (Punica granatum L.) have never been indexed for type as many other fruit types.

I guess you're from Australia? I'm from Vic. I used to grow AB. I got it from Mistydowns. AB is a fast repeater with strong scent. However this rose is prone to B/S when you don't spray. I would grow this rose again in the future if I have a large space. I don't think this rose is suitable for a pot because it likes to branch out. Claire Austin is very healthy and bushy (it retains most of its leaves). However, the blooms look very plain/ordinary. I guess I don't like white roses and I can't detect much scent. Heritage is another lovely rose that I prefer over C/A because of its lemony scent that can waft around during the summertime. It likes to throw out long canes and gets big very quickly. Like Claire Austin, Heritage can loose its petals very quickly.

Have you created many brom paintings? Thanks Devo - I have recently completed a series of 10 artworks of bromeliads - it was my post-frost therapy after the hideous winter my garden suffered from. I had already created many cyanotypes, but had not completed the hand-colouring. I exhibited the 10 works, framed, at the Aust. Brom conference a few weeks ago. But before framing, I had them scanned at high resolution for printing purposes. I am in the process of getting sets of 8 greeting cards printed from that series, as well as unframed poster prints, to sell on international eBay and nurseries/gift shops. Hope I don't end up with a garage full of unsold cards! The framed originals are for sale, but not cheap - they are very labour intensive. Cyanotypes are a very early form of photographic imaging, using highly toxic chemicals (including cyanide) - like blue-print maps and plans of yesteryear. It is a complex process. I combine computer technology to create the large negatives, then expose the painted chemicals and negs to ultra-violet light (good old sunshine), rinse the paper in water, and then dried - resultant image is a blue-toned monoprint. Then I choose ones I like to selectively hand-colour with coloured pencils. Some I leave as straight cyanotypes, if they work well as is. All my brom artworks originate from photos I have taken from my own garden. Here are 2 more. Again, the neo one has exaggerated colour, compared to the original. Hope you enjoy :) Cheers, Kerry

As we all say, each to their own. I could not live in the tropics/sub tropics in a pink fit - I love changing seasons and would hate not to curl up in front of a log fire in winter and there is nothing better than being under a warm doona on a winter's night. We live in a very beautiful spot - Barrington, NSW with magnificent views and many people would think we are in Utopia. But in August we are going to visit Tassie to see just how bad the winters are - we were there in February and the coolness of the summer was wonderful. The quality of some of the soil is also an attraction. Barrington summers are disgustingly hot & humid (5days over 40degrees last summer) and gardening is impossible between 10.00 am and 16:00 am. All the gardens I fall in love with are always cool climate gardens and I would really like to develop one before my days are up. Richardqld - I'd love to exchange emails once you are settled in Tassie as it would be great to get the reaction of someone who has moved there from a warmer climate!
